Update – Municipality of Port Hope – Appeal Withdrawn on 65 Ward Street

In City Hall, Local

(Today’s Northumberland file photo)

The Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) has advised the Municipality that the appellants, Southbridge Health Care GP Inc., CVH (NO. 6) GP INC., CVH (NO. 6) LP, have withdrawn their appeal. As a result, the OLT file is now closed.

Because the appeal has been withdrawn, Council’s decision to deny the Heritage Permit for the Demolition application (which was decided by a Council vote in June 2023) remains in effect. This means that the permit is still not approved and the demolition can’t proceed.

At this time, the Municipality has not been provided with any information about the reasons for the withdrawal. Updates will be provided to the public when more information becomes available regarding this property.

With the file closed, the OLT has cancelled the hearing events that were scheduled to begin on June 19, 2026, and September 21, 2026, respectively.
