Quinte West OPP – Vehicle Nearly Collides with Cruiser (Name Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid impaired driving charges, amongst other charges, after a vehicle nearly collides with a police cruiser.

On Monday, January 12, 2026, at approximately 5:00 a.m., the Quinte West OPP conducted a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle.

James Johnson, age 24, from Frankford, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – drugs

• Dangerous operation

• Novice driver – presence of drug

• Fail to report accident

• Fail to remain

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on February 5, 2026.
