Cobourg Police – Colborne Man Charged with Assault and Theft (No Name Released)

In Police Blotter

A 41-year-old Colborne man is facing several charges following a police investigation into a July 2025 assault and theft.

On July 28, 2025, police were called to a business in the area of William Street in Cobourg after receiving a report of an assault. Officers spoke with the business owner, who reported that funds had been stolen by a former employee. When the former employee met with the owner to return the funds, a dispute occurred, and the employee assaulted the business owner with a crowbar before fleeing the scene in his vehicle. Attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful at the time, as he had left the province. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

On January 13, 2026, a 41-year-old Colborne man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, three counts of fraud under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, four counts of possession of property obtained by crime, theft under $5,000, and three counts of unauthorized use of a credit card. The accused was held for a show cause hearing and remanded into custody.
