Shop With a Cop Brings Holiday Cheer to Local Youth in Cobourg

In Community, Local, Police Blotter

On December 14th, Cobourg Police Service members once again lit up the holiday season with the beloved Shop with a Cop initiative. This annual tradition gave ten local youths a magical day filled with laughter, friendship, and the true spirit of giving.

Selected by police, school officials, and social service agencies, these deserving children were paired with Cobourg Police Service uniformed officers, special constables, and auxiliary members for a festive shopping adventure. Together, they picked out gifts for their loved ones, and a little something special for themselves, creating memories that will last well beyond the holiday season.

After shopping, the group gathered for a cozy lunch courtesy of Domino’s Cobourg, followed by a cheerful gift-wrapping session complete with holiday tunes and plenty of smiles. It was a day of connection, kindness, and community spirit.

“Shop with a Cop is more than a shopping trip. It’s about building trust, spreading joy, and reminding these kids that they are valued members of our community,” said Detective Constable Danielle McKeen. “We’re so grateful to all the donors and generous community members for making this day possible.”

A heartfelt thank-you to our generous donors and partners who helped make this day a holiday highlight for ten local youth and their families. We also want to thank the community members who donated while we were shopping for gifts or contributed toward their purchases. Your kindness was truly amazing. Your support ensures the magic of the season shines brightly in Cobourg.
