Video – The Children’s Foundation Very Grateful for Queenies Toy Drive

The first stop for The Children’s Foundation nearly filled up their trailer in Port Hope on Monday, December 15, 2025.

A number of volunteers with The Children’s Foundation stopped in front of Queenies Bake Shop on Walton Street in Port Hope shortly after 10 a.m.

When they walked through the doors, the beaming smiles on their faces told the story.

Around the Christmas tree were over a thousand toys donated by the Port Hope and area community along with Queenies Bake Shop owner Adam Pearson over the past month.

Community Engagement & Events Coordinator Dreya Richardson.

“It’s really incredible. There are so many toys. It’s amazing to see how generous the community here is and to all come together to help other kids at Christmas.”

Richardson said that with today’s economy every gift is so important and appreciated.

“It’s hard for parents to always get the toys that kids want. So it’s amazing how the community comes together to help others.”

Along with the volunteers from The Children’s Foundation, a number of regular customers from Queenies helped out organizing and loading up the trailer.

Even while people were loading up the trailer, more donations were being dropped off.

“It’s amazing,” said Pearson loading up the trailer.

“We’ve got the beautiful weather for it with the snowflakes coming down – it’s magical – it’s Christmas.”

With the last of the presents placed in the trailer, Richardson said, “it’s crazy to think how generous people are.”

“Look at how full it is and that’s just from the Port Hope community. That’s going to bless so many children this Christmas.”

The Children’s Foundation (TCF) has been helping children and youth in Hastings County since 1991 and in 2015 expanded to include Northumberland and Prince Edward Counties.

The Children’s Foundation is an independent organization governed by its own Board of Directors and is the charitable arm of Highland Shores Children’s Aid (HSCA). TCF also supports families who have no affiliation to HSCA with funding and access to resources in their local communities.
