Cobourg Police – Incidents Include Cruelty to Animals, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Shoplifting, Fail to Comply (No Names Released)

A 19-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after injuring a dog during a family dispute.

On Saturday, November 29, 2025, at approximately 5:10 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the North end of Cobourg in response to a disturbance.

Police attended and located two men in a physical altercation and an injured dog in the backyard. The investigation determined that one man had stabbed the dog, which led to a dispute between the two men.

As a result, a 19-year-old Cobourg man was arrested for uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, cruelty to animals –unnecessary pain, suffering or injury, and injuring or killing an animal. The accused was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries. The dog was transported to a vet for treatment.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded.

The Cobourg Police Service notes that in May of 2025 the accused was arrested for another violent incident. He currently faces eight criminal charges. In total, police have had eight interactions with the accused in the past year.


A 32-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after police responded to a report of shoplifting.

On November 28, 2025, police responded to a report of shoplifting at a business on Elgin Street West in Cobourg. The business reported that a woman had stolen merchandise earlier that morning. Through investigation, police identified the suspect.

On November 29, 2025, while on general patrol, officers located and arrested the 32-year-old Cobourg woman who was charged with Theft under $5,000, Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and Failure to comply with Probation Order. During a search incident to arrest, officers also located suspect fentanyl, and she was further charged with Possession of a Schedule I substance. The accused was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing and was later released from court on a Release Order.

The Cobourg Police Service notes that since December 2024, the accused has been arrested six times with nine criminal charges. In total, police have had 43 interactions with the accused in the past year.


Two Cobourg residents are facing charges after police responded to a trespassing complaint on Saturday.

On November 29, 2025, police responded to a trespassing call after two individuals were located on a private property in the area of Division Street and James Street in Cobourg. Police attended and located two individuals who were both on probation orders with conditions prohibiting contact between them. As a result, a 35-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man were arrested. The man was charged with three counts of failure to comply with the Probation Order. The woman was charged with two counts of failure to comply with Probation Order and Possession of a Schedule I substance after suspected fentanyl was located on her during arrest.

Both were held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.

The Cobourg Police Service notes that since December 2024, the man has been arrested seven times with 30 criminal charges. In total, police have had 64 interactions with the accused in the past year. The woman has been arrested six times with eight criminal charges. In total, police have had 93 interactions with the accused in the past year.


A 35-year-old woman was arrested for breaching release conditions.

On November 30, 2025, officers were on general patrol in the area of Densmore Road and Division Street when they observed a vehicle conduct a U-turn upon seeing the marked police cruiser. A traffic stop was conducted, and police learned the driver was on conditions not to be in the Town of Cobourg. As a result, a 35-year-old woman from Carrying Place was arrested and charged with failing to comply with the undertaking. The accused was released on an Undertaking.


A 26-year-old Ajax man is facing charges for theft from a motor vehicle after police were dispatched to a neighbourhood in the Northwest end of Cobourg early Monday morning.

On December 1, 2025, at approximately 3:10 a.m., police responded to a neighbourhood in the area of Prince of Wales Drive for a report of a man on a scooter attempting to enter vehicles.

Officers observed a scooter and a man inside a pickup truck. When officers approached the man, he fled the area. After a foot pursuit, the man was placed under arrest without incident. As a result, the 26-year-old Ajax man is charged with theft from a motor vehicle under $5,000 and Possession of break-in instruments. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

The investigation is ongoing as police work to determine if there is a connection to previous reports of similar vehicle break-ins in the area.
