Cobourg Police – Investigating Theft from Business

In Police Blotter

The Cobourg Police Service is currently investigating a theft from a business on Division Street in Cobourg after a suspicious vehicle flees from police.

On October 10, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., while on general patrol, police observed a dark blue or black four-door vehicle (possibly a Lexus) with light-coloured rims, no front licence plate and an obstructed back licence plate, exiting a gas station on Division Street.

As soon as police positioned themselves behind the vehicle to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated rapidly, reaching speeds in excess of 100 km/h. The vehicle continued northbound on Highway 45 and turned off its headlights. Due to public safety concerns, officers did not initiate a pursuit.

Police returned to the gas station and reviewed surveillance footage that showed the vehicle reversing into a parking space before a lone male entered the store and proceeded to steal multiple items.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting stopcrimehere.ca. Tips received through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
