Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with cannabis-related offences following a traffic stop.
On October 1, 2025, shortly after 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle being driven erratically on Theatre Road in the Township of Hamilton.
While on patrol, officers located a vehicle matching the description on William Street in Cobourg, where it entered a commercial parking lot.
Following speaking to the driver, police learned that the motorist was prohibited from driving.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a number of black plastic bags containing loose cannabis material. The vehicle was also impounded for 45 days.
As a result, Luke BATEMAN (46), from Cobourg, has been charged with:
– Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place
– Cultivate, propagate or harvest any cannabis plant at a place that is not their dwelling-house
– Operation while prohibited
The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in November.
