Durham Region Police – Male Arrested in Durham Region’s Fifth Homicide (Name Released)

A 64-year-old male has been arrested in relation to the homicide investigation in Newcastle.

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at approximately 9:10 a.m., members of East Division responded to an unknown trouble call at a residence in the area of Farrow Avenue and Highway 2. Officers located a female with obvious signs of trauma, who was pronounced deceased.

The female victim has been identified as Marilyn Stevens, age 62 of Newcastle.

On Friday, September, 26, 2025, the victim’s husband was taken into custody without incident.

Scott Stevens, age 64 from Newcastle is charged with: First Degree Murder.

He was held for a bail hearing.
