Cobourg Police – Investigating Suspicious Fire

Cobourg Police Service is currently investigating the cause of a fire in the Town of Cobourg on Sunday night.

On September 21, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m., police responded to the area of Bay Street and Green Street in Cobourg for a report of a fence on fire. A bystander was able to extinguish most of the fire with an extinguisher, and the Cobourg Fire Department attended to put out hot spots and ensure the area was safe. There were no injuries reported. Damage was sustained to the fence and hedge.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information, dashcam footage, or CCTV footage of the area is asked to call the police at 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting stopcrimehere.ca. Tips received through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
