Cougars Suffer Third Straight Loss in Trenton

In Hockey

Beckett Ewart opened the scoring against his former club as the Trenton Golden Hawks downed the visiting Cobourg Cougars 4-1 in Ontario Junior Hockey League action Friday night at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens.

Ewart, who is from Cobourg, was traded by the Cougars to Trenton earlier this month. The 19-year-old forward spent two seasons with the Cougars and last season registered 26 goals and 24 assists in 55 regular season games, adding three goals and four assists in five playoff contests.

In late August, the Cougars dealt 20-year-old defenceman Duncan Schneider to Trenton.

Lincoln Edwards tallied the lone Cobourg goal Friday night as they dropped to 0-3 to start the OJHL season while Trenton improved to 2-1.
