Peterborough Police – Suspect Charged After Break and Enter at Edmison Heights Public School

A 19-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges in connection with a break and enter at a Peterborough school.

At approximately 2:00am on Monday, September 8, 2025, officers were called to the school in The Marina Boulevard and Royal Drive area about a break and enter in progress. Upon arrival, officers started searching the building. Several minutes later a man with a backpack ran out of the school, officers called out to him and told him stop however, the man kept running toward police. The officer deployed their conducted energy weapon (CEW) and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. During a search of the suspect and backpack after arrest officers seized:

6 tablets and several chargers belonging to the school board
A double-sided axe
Dog repellant
A 14-inch black pipe
A flashlight
Food
As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

Break, enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada
Mischief – destroys or damages property
Possession break in instruments
Breach of Probation order (Provincial Offences Act)
There was a break and enter at the same school the previous day in which there was property damage and graffiti on the walls, including racial slurs. The incident from Sunday, September 7, 2025, and early Monday morning are active investigations with the Peterborough Police Service.
