Kawartha Lakes Police – Firearms Charges (Names Released)

On August 19th, 2025, a search warrant was executed at an address on King Street in Lindsay, by the Kawartha Lakes Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit and the Criminal Investigations Branch with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Tactics and Rescue Unit and OPP K9 Unit.

As a result of the warrant and investigation a loaded handgun was located as well as fabricated government issued identification documents.

Following the execution of the Search Warrant Deshawn Gibbs a 25-year-old male from Markham was arrested and charged with the following offences:

· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

· Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo

· Careless Storage of a Firearm

· Possession of an Identity document X 20

Anica Smallwood a 23-year-old female from Whitby was also charged with the following offences:

· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

· Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo

· Careless Storage of a Firearm

Both accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay.
