Video – Photo Gallery – Encampment Debris in Cobourg Expected to Be Cleared Soon

In Local

A large encampment located on private property is expected to be cleared this week.

The encampment located just north of the dog park west of Ontario Street in Cobourg has been vacant for a number of days but had caused issues with the Summer Camp program at YMCA Northumberland.

The Camp program had to alter their play area as a result of the encampment.

Although the encampment is empty, a large amount of garbage remains.

A number of electrical tools, a few tents, kitchen utensils, shopping cart, a number of light fixtures, pots, pans, a large amount of clothes, numerous pairs of footwear, remnants of numerous camp fires. There are even steps carved out in a hill leading down to the encampment.

Reaching out to the Town of Cobourg, they stated the clean-up should be completed by the end of this week at the owner of the properties expense.
