Suspicious Death Investigation – Update

Detectives with the Investigative Services Unit have laid a charge in connection with a suspicious death investigation.

A 40-year-old Peterborough man has now been charged with:

Indignity to dead body
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, August 13, 2025.

Impaired Arrest

A 27-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Wednesday morning.

At approximately 2:00am on August 13, 2025, officers were called to a restaurant drive-thru in the Lansdowne Street and The Parkway area after a call from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver. Upon arrival, officers learned that a vehicle had been rearended in the drive thru. While speaking with the driver of the offending vehicle, officers noticed signs of impairment and open alcohol in the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero (Highway Traffic Act)
Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor (Liquor Licence Control Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court September 23, 2025.
