Quinte West OPP – Quebec Man Facing Numerous Charges (Name Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with drug related and other offences, following an investigation in Quinte West.

On Friday, July 18, 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Officers with the Quinte West OPP, the OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit and Belleville Police Service (BPS) arrested an individual at the Quinte Mall , in the City of Belleville, stemming from an incident that occurred in Quinte West.

As a result, cash, Fentanyl, Xannax, a forged document and an unauthorized weapon were confiscated.
Dylon SMITH-AWEDA, 26 years old from Quebec, was charged with the following:

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada

Traffick in Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin)

Traffick in Schedule IV substance – Other Drugs

Possession of a forged document with intent

Fail to Comply with Probation Order x5

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 23, 2025
