Northumberland OPP – Oshawa Man Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

In Police Blotter

On Sunday June 29, 2025, at approximately 2:45 pm, members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver

A fellow motorist called police to report that a grey Volkswagen sedan was travelling eastbound on Ganaraska Road in Port Hope and believed the driver to be impaired.

The vehicle was reported to be unable to drive in a designated lane, driving into oncoming traffic, and hitting the south side ditch.

Police observed the described vehicle travelling eastbound on Oak Ridges Drive. Officers found the driving behavior to be consistent with the complainants observations.

The vehicle was stopped and police approached it to speak with the driver.

Officers observed empty cans of alcohol scattered on the passenger side floor and the driver was displaying signs of impairment.

The officer administered a roadside screening device test and the operator registered a ‘fail’.

The individual was taken into custody and taken to Northumberland OPP Detachment in Cobourg where further testing was conducted, which resulted in the driver registering over three times the legal limit.

As a result Troy CONNORS, (age 51) from Oshawa, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:

Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and the Tobacco Tax Act (TTA) with:

Driving while under suspension

Possess unmarked cigarettes

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on a date in July, 2025. The vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days, and the accused received an additional 90 day license suspension.
