In Police Blotter

The Cobourg Police Service (CPS) Selective Traffic Enforcement Project (STEP) for June is focusing on commercial motor vehicles and modified vehicles. This initiative aims to ensure these vehicles comply with safety regulations and enhance road safety in Cobourg.

The June STEP initiative will concentrate on identifying and addressing violations related to commercial motor vehicles and modified vehicles through a comprehensive approach that includes engagement, education, and enforcement. CPS is committed to fostering a culture of responsible vehicle modifications and compliance with traffic laws to create safer roads for everyone.

“Ensuring commercial and modified vehicles meet safety standards is crucial for the safety of all road users. Our June STEP program aims to address this by promoting responsible vehicle modifications and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. We are dedicated to making our roads safer for everyone.” – Constable Taylor Emmerton, Cobourg Police Service

CPS urges all drivers to ensure their vehicles comply with safety standards and regulations.

Modifications or upgrades to your vehicle should not put you or other road users at risk of unsafe conditions or unintentionally lead to a fine. Commercial vehicle owners should ensure their vehicles comply with weight, dimension, lighting, and other requirements to ensure the vehicle is safe and roadworthy. Research ahead of time to ensure you are complying with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act and other relevant requirements and guidelines. Learn what is prohibited to avoid potential problems down the road.
