Breaking News – Update – Durham Regional Police – 14-Year-Old Male Charged with First Degree Murder

A 14-year-old male has been charged with first degree murder after a female was killed in Pickering in Durham Region’s second homicide of 2025. The suspect was initially reported to be 13 years of age; however, he is 14-years-old.
On Thursday, May 29, 2025, at approximately 3:05 p.m., members of West Division responded to the area of Lynn Heights Drive and Fairport Road for an unknown trouble call. A passerby found an elderly female on the ground outside a residence suffering from traumatic injuries. The female was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre where she was pronounced deceased.
After an extensive search, the suspect was arrested without incident at approximately 8:30 p.m.
A 14-year-old male from Pickering has been charged with First Degree Murder and has been held for a bail hearing.
The victim’s name is being withheld at the request of the family.
