It was a fun day raising funds for a great cause at Dalewood Golf Club on Friday, May 9, 2025.

A total of 151 golfers took part in The Ryan Huffman Foundation 4th Annual Golf Tournament in Support of Mental Health, Addiction and Youth in Sport.

It was a full day of golf, fun, music and great food.

Last year the tournament raised $52,000.00 and over the last three years with the support of sponsors and participants the tournament has raised over $110,000.00 that goes back into Northumberland County for people who are struggling with mental health and addiction issues and youth in sport
Huffman spoke to Today’s Northumberland just before the shotgun start at 11 a.m.

“We’re very blessed and very fortunate to have the support that the community gives. Each and every year it seems early in May, no matter what, they get behind the cause and the foundation. It’s unbelievable and we’re very grateful.”

Looking around at the number of people in attendance, Huffman said, “it absolutely blows me away.”

“You come in with a vision, but I didn’t think in a million years that we’d get the support and make this tournament what it is today.”

Cameco is one of the new sponsors for the tournament.

Dale Clark, Vice-President, Fuel Services Division and a number of people from Cameco were participating in the tournament.

“It’s a great tournament and a great day,” said Clark.

“Cameco is really happy to be involved. We all want to make a difference in terms of mental health and make a difference in our community. The Ryan Huffman Foundation has done great work in that area so we’re happy to be part of it.”

Some of the golfers were experienced and others were obviously enjoying the day and just having fun.

Much to the surprise of everyone in his group, Cobourg councillor Adam Bureau was the first one of the day to chip the ball into a dumpster.

But at the next hole, Bureau’s tee shot didn’t get past the ladies tees.

Saying the chip was a “pretty lucky shot,” but he got a bit of dirt on his drive, nearly making it to the ladies tee.

The goal of this years tournament is to raise over $50,000.
