Cobourg Police Service Launches Police Week

In Local, Upcoming Events

Police Week in Ontario runs from May 11 to 17, 2025, and Cobourg Police Service (CPS) is proud to join police services across the province to kick off Police Week. During Police Week, CPS will celebrate the work front-line police officers, 9-1-1 communicators, and police members do to keep Ontarians safe.

The theme for the week is Protecting Ontario and highlights the importance of safe communities to the overall health and well-being of all Ontarians and the role police members in keeping Ontario safe
Police Week was first observed in 1970. Since then, Ontario police services and community members have come together to honour and celebrate police officers and personnel for the extraordinary work they do every day. Police Week also coincides with the Peace Officers Memorial, recognized internationally on May 15. Here in Cobourg, this date holds a special place as the day to reflect and remember Constable Chris Garrett #221, who was killed in the line of duty on May 15, 2004, while protecting the citizens of the Town of Cobourg.

Throughout the week, CPS will be highlighting the many ways in which our members continue to serve our community. The annual Police Week in Ontario is sponsored by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General.
