City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Serious Head-On Collision on Highway 35

On March 24, 2025, at approximately 7:00 a.m., members of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP, with assistance from Fire and EMS, responded to a report of a serious head-on collision on Highway 35, between Sandy Hook Road and Pontypool Road.

As a result of the collision, three individuals were taken to a local area hospital with minor injuries, while one person was transported to a trauma center in Toronto with life-threatening injuries. The highway was closed for several hours while the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team processed the scene. The road has since been reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
