Northumberland OPP – Upcoming Canadian Armed Forces Training Exercise

In Local, Upcoming Events

The Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is advising residents and motorists of a pre-planned training exercise being conducted by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) throughout Northumberland County on the weekend of April 26-27, 2025. This exercise is part of regular training to ensure the readiness of military personnel.

Uniformed members of the armed forces may arrive as early as April 22 to prepare for the exercise and may remain in the area until April 30. Over 800 soldiers, along with their vehicles and equipment, will be participating in various areas of the county.

Motorists traveling along Highways, especially from London, Ontario, should be aware of convoys of military vehicles and personnel.

The Northumberland OPP wants to reassure the public that there is no threat to public safety. The increased military presence, including soldiers and vehicles, is part of a controlled and well-coordinated exercise.

The OPP is fully aware of this activity and has been in communication with the CAF and Northumberland County to ensure the exercise is carried out safely and with minimal disruption to the community.
