Port Hope Man Charged with Impaired

A 38-year-old Port Hope man has been arrested and charged with impaired driving.

On Friday, March 7, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., police responded to reports of a possible impaired driver at a
business near Division Street and Highway 401. Police stopped the vehicle and investigated the driver,
who was displaying erratic behaviour and was subsequently placed under arrest.

Following a drug recognition evaluation, the 38-year-old Port Hope man was charged with Operation While Impaired – Drugs. The accused’s vehicle was impounded, and he was later released from custody with a future court date.

 

Cobourg Man Charged with Shoplifting

A 60-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges for shoplifting.

On Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., police responded to a business on Division Street after the
store’s loss prevention arrested a man for shoplifting.

As a result of the police investigation, the 60-year-old Cobourg man was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Crime Under $5,000. The accused was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Cobourg Man Charged with Breach

A 30-year-old Cobourg man is facing breach charges after police responded to a domestic dispute Sunday
night.

On Sunday, March 9, 2025, at around 10:00 p.m., police responded to a downtown apartment after a
passing citizen reported hearing what they believed to be a verbal dispute between a man and woman.

Police responded to the address and located the man inside. The female had departed prior to police
arrival.

Further investigation showed that the man was currently bound by a release order with conditions
prohibiting him from possessing any weapons or cell phones. Officers noted multiple prohibited knives in plain view inside the residence and that the man was in possession of a cell phone.

As a result of the police investigation, a 30-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with two
counts of failing to comply with a release order and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.

The accused was held in custody pending a show cause hearing.
