If stamps are on your radar – whether you have inherited a collection you would like advice on or maybe are considering taking up a hobby again that you once enjoyed – mark your calendar for March 1.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Cobourg Stamp Club hosts the Eastern GTA Stamp Clubs Sale at the Salvation Army Citadel at 59 Ballantine St.

Six clubs are coming together that day for what’s known as a bourse, with a wide selection of stamps and lots of bargains to be had from members of the Cobourg, Ajax-Pickering, Fenelon, Kawartha, Oshawa and Trenton stamp clubs.

The idea came from a similar event Oshawa hosted prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the Cobourg club did not participate in that one, they have taken the idea and run with it – hoping possibly to make it an annual event with hosting duties rotating among the clubs.

While the hope is to attract collectors, organizers also note that this might be an opportunity for others – anyone interested in taking up the hobby, someone who has inherited a collection and would like some advice (or perhaps to sell it). This event will have plenty of helpful and enthusiastic folks willing to help.

There is also the hope of attracting new members to the Cobourg Stamp Club, which meets Tuesdays and Thursdays September through June at the Salvation Army Citadel. Meetings are 6:30 p.m., except in December through February when they are afternoon gatherings from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

You can get more information at the March 1 event, where admission is free and so is the parking (and there will be a food court so you don’t have to duck out for lunch).

You can also get more information regarding the show or club meetings from Rob at 905-786-2342 or chevy4life@hotmail.com
