Belleville Police Service – Incidents Include Arrests on Warrant, MVC, Domestic Dispute

Arrested on Warrant
On the 10th of January at 09:10am, members of the Community Response Unit (CRU) were in the area of Bridge Street East and Church Street when the observed a male known to them as being wanted by the Belleville Police Service for failing to comply with a Release Order. Jeffrey Baldwin, 50-years-old of no fixed address was arrested on the strength of the warrant and held in custody.

Arrested on Warrant
On the 10th of January, Belleville Police were contacted by the Durham Regional Police Service who advised that they had arrested a female wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant held by the Belleville Police Service. As a result, Kaitlin Leask, 28-years-old of no fixed address was transported from Durham to Belleville where she was held in custody on the strength of the warrant which was for Breach of Probation.

Single motor vehicle collision
On the 11th of January at 2:03am, emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Casey Road in Thurlow Twp. The vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle was severely damaged but the four occupants received relatively minor injuries. It was snowing at the time and the road was snow covered. Police believe that speed was a factor in the collision. Police are continuing the investigation.

Family dispute leads to assault charges
On the 11th of January at 6:14pm, Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s west end for the report of a family dispute. Upon arrival, police spoke to the involved parties and learned that a 37-year-old Belleville man had physically assaulted his mother and grandmother. As a result, he was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and held for a bail hearing.

Domestic Assault
On the 12th of January at 2:44pm, Belleville Police were called by a concerned citizen after observing a male and female engaged in a domestic dispute while inside a vehicle at a business in the city’s east end. The vehicle departed with the female yelling for help and requesting someone call police. Police located the vehicle on George Street. The involved male had exited the vehicle prior to police arrival. Police learned that the male and female were in a relationship together and that the male had physically assaulted the female. Further investigation revealed the male was currently on Probation with conditions which he was breaching. Police searched and located the male nearby. As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault and breach of Probation. He was held for a bail hearing.

Domestic Assault
On the 12th of January at 9:20am, Belleville Police were called to the Warming Centre on Bridge St. West regarding two persons fighting. Officers arrived on scene and located the involved persons. Police learned that the male and female involved in the fight were in a relationship. Both involved parties suffered minor physical injuries as a result of the incident. As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 19-year-old female of no fixed address with assault and released her on an Undertaking with a court date in February. The involved 40-year-old male of no fixed address was also arrested and charged with assault. He was held for a bail hearing.
