Cobourg Police – Oshawa Man Facing Numerous Charges Including Flight from Police (Name Released)

A 34-year-old Oshawa man has been arrested and faces charges after fleeing from traffic stop Friday night.

On Friday, January 3, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Swayne Street in Cobourg for a traffic violation. The vehicle fled from police.

Through investigation police identified the driver and determined the vehicle and attached licence plates
were reported stolen in the Durham Region.

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, the Centre Hastings OPP arrested Richard Henwood (34) of Oshawa.

Cobourg Police attended and returned him to the Cobourg Police where he was held for bail for the following offences:

• Use Plates Not Authorized for Vehicle

• Fail to Surrender Permit for Vehicle

• Fail to Surrender Insurance Card

• Driving While Under Suspension

• Dangerous Operation

• Flight From Peace Officer

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

• Four Counts of Breach of Probation
