Northumberland OPP – Prohibited Driver Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

In Police Blotter

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an impaired driver who was also prohibited.

On December 5, 2024, at around 12:30 a.m., police responded to a complaint regarding a suspected impaired driver in the area of Front Street North in Campbellford.

Officers arrived at the location and spoke with the driver of a pickup truck matching the description provided in the report. Officers entered into an impaired operation investigation which resulted in the accused being arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

As a result, Tyler RUNCIMAN (age 29) from the Municipality of Trent Hills, has been charged with:

– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

– Operation while prohibited.

In addition to a future court date, a further three- day licence suspension and a 45-day vehicle impound was initiated.

If you know or suspect that a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, call 9-1-1. In doing so, you may save a life. Whether you are impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired and driving under the influence of either is a criminal offence. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive.

Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
