Peterborough County OPP – Highway 28 Collision Results in Charges (Name Released)

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews responded to the scene of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 28 at Strickland Road which led to injuries and charges.

Just prior to 2:30pm on December 3, 2024, Peterborough County OPP received a call reporting a serious two-vehicle collision on Highway 28 and Strickland Road in Douro-Dummer Township. Officers arrived on scene of a two-vehicle head-on collision involving a pickup truc k and a transport truck. The pickup was observed in the ditch with one person in the vehicle. Witnesses advised that a second person had been seen exiting the vehicle and walked a short distance away from it.

Officers spoke with the person, who initially was apprehensive and although showed signs of being in a collision, stated they were not in the vehicle. After a brief period of time, the individual changed their story and advised they were currently on conditions not to be with the driver of the pickup. The individual was arrested.

Jessica PATERSON (age 31) of Hamilton, ON., was arrested and charged with:

  • Fail to comply with release order – other than to attend court
  • Fail to comply with Undertaking

The accused was transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment where they were held for Bail.

The driver of the pickup was transported by ORNGE Air to a Toronto trauma centre.

The driver of the transport truck reported no injuries at the time.

Roads remained closed for several hours while emergency crews dealt with the collision and police members trained in collision reconstruction, measured and documented the scene.
