Rebound Launches NightStop Project to Support Local Youth with Emergency Housing Solutions

In Local

A transformative initiative designed to provide safe, short-term accommodations for youth in need.

Rebound Child & Youth Services is thrilled to announce the launch of the NightStop project, a groundbreaking program aimed at addressing the urgent need for emergency housing for vulnerable youth in our community. This initiative, set to begin operations officially in February 2025, will create safe, short-term accommodation options while empowering local communities to offer meaningful support to those in crisis.

NightStop is made possible through a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and will focus on creating a network of trained volunteer hosts to provide temporary safe spaces for youth experiencing housing instability, combined with support services to connect them to long-term solutions.

Key milestones include:

Recruitment of a dedicated project worker to oversee operations.

Recruitment and accreditation of hosts through intensive training programs.

Launch of the pilot program in Spring 2025.

“NightStop is a program that goes beyond providing shelter—it’s about fostering hope, dignity, and opportunity for young people in need. This program is a testament to the power of community coming together to create change.”, said Sam Rockbrune, Executive Director of Rebound. “Rebound is ecstatic to bring this project to Northumberland. Our NightStop project will be the third in Ontario and builds off over 30 years of successful NightStop programs in the United Kingdom.”
