Cobourg Police – Two People Charged with Impaired (No Names Released)

In Police Blotter

A Cobourg man and Grafton woman are facing impaired charges after police responded to a business on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at approximately 10:40 p.m., police were dispatched to a business on Elgin Street West for the report of possible impaired driving.

Police attended and located two individuals in their respective vehicles matching the descriptions provided.

As a result of the police investigation, a 29-year-old Cobourg man and a 26-year-old Grafton woman were arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80mgs.

Both were released on undertakings, both received a 90-day licence suspension, and their vehicles were
impounded for 7 days.

The Cobourg Police Service encourages the public to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911. Impaired driving is the leading criminal cause of death and injury in Canada, yet every impaired driving crash is preventable. By calling 911 and reporting suspected impaired drivers to the police, everyone can play a role in keeping roads and waterways safe. Always plan for a safe ride home, designate a sober driver, or call a friend, a relative, or a cab.

YMCA Northumberland is running Operation Red Nose, the safe ride service, this winter. We encourage
everyone to call ORN at (905) 377-1218 during the evenings and hours of operation for a safe, reliable ride home. Visit ymcanrt.org/orn/ and follow the YMCA Northumberland Facebook page for more information on how their volunteers can help get you and your car home safely this holiday season.
