Northumberland OPP – Cobourg Woman Charged with Impaired, Fail to Surrender Licence (Name Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an impaired driver following a report from a member of the public.

On November 15, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police responded to a complaint regarding an individual causing a commotion in a vehicle in the area of Massey Road and Clouston Road in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand.

Following the stop of a vehicle matching the description provided on Burns Road, police entered into an impaired operation investigation and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made. With the result, the accused was arrested and transported to a police station for further tests.

Maranda LEE, 25-years-old, from Cobourg, has been charged with:

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

– Driver fail to surrender l icence

– Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

– Fail to surrender insurance card.

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

Drivers are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol/drug-impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. Arrive alive, drive sober.
