Video – Tammies Jammies Helps Out The Children’s Foundation At Christmas

In Local

Tammies Jammies kicked off on Friday, November 15, 2024 at the Ganaraska Financial Credit Union in Port Hope.

Tammies Jammies was started by Tammie Staples who is a Constable with the Port Hope Police Service several years ago collecting pyjamas for The Children’s Foundation.

Originally launched in 2017, Tammie’s Jammies was inspired by her family tradition of receiving a new pair of pajamas on Christmas Eve, ensuring every child wakes up on Christmas morning with a gift that brings both physical and emotional warmth.

Jerry Siebarth from the Municipality of Port Hope has also been a major part of the team in collecting.

Ganaraska Financial Credit Union offices on Queen Street in Port Hope held the kick-off for the event and welcomed members of the community to join in the celebration.

Kathy Foster who is Chief Executive Officer with Ganaraska Financial Credit Union said they were honoured to help support Tammies Jammies for the kick-off.

Tammies Jammies has grown from a 50 pairs of pyjamas the first year, to over 2,000 last year.

Tammie always sets the goal at one pair of pj’s.

The Belleville Police Service has also joined forces this year.

“This initiative represents the true spirit of the season—coming together as a community to support one another,” said Deputy Chief Sheri Meeks. “We’re thrilled to partner with the Port Hope Police Service and help bring smiles and comfort to children in care during the holidays.”

Donations of all sizes are welcome to ensure children of all ages can benefit from this gesture of kindness
