Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on November 01, 2024 following an interaction during a RIDE program.

On November 01, 2024, at approximately 10:30 pm, while conducting a RIDE program a motor vehicle entered into the RIDE at Hwy 35 near Towers Road and an impaired driving investigation commenced.

Henry Oppers, 76-year-old of Janetville, was charged with:

Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the drivers license was suspended for 90 days.

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
