Quinte West OPP – Quinte West Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

Victim in Hospital With Life-Threatening Injuries

 The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged and individual in connection to an attempted murder that occurred in Quinte West.

On October 31, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., members of the Quinte West OPP, Quinte West Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, Quinte West Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services (FIS), responded to the area of Belleville Street in Frankford, when a shooting was reported.

The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a regional trauma centre for treatment. Officers located the accused a short distance away, where he was arrested.

A 27-year-old from Quinte West has been charged with:

·        Attempt to commit murder

·        Discharge firearm with intent

·        Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·        Pointing a firearm

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.

The individual’s name cannot be released until the charges are heard in court.
