Building Fees and Charges Amended for Alnwick/Haldimand Township

TAKE NOTICE that the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand will hold a Public Meeting to consider the passing of a by-law to adopt new and amended building fees and charges under Section 7(6) of the Ontario Building Code Act (OBC), as amended.

A Public Meeting will be held by the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand at the Centreton Community Centre, 2363 County Rd 23, Grafton, ON K0K 2G0 on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 9:30am. Please note that seating is limited.

Electronic Participation is available. A link to the Zoom meeting and instructions on how to participate will be published on the Regular Council Meeting Agenda on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Failure to connect electronically shall not delay, invalidate, or call into question the proceedings or decisions of the meeting.

THE PURPOSE of the public meeting is to obtain public comments on the proposed enactment of a by-law to make amendments to the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand Fees and Charges By-law as well as minor changes to how existing building permit fees are calculated.

The public meeting will include a presentation by staff on the proposed amendments to the building permit fees, following a review of the current permit fees and the costs associated with providing service to enforce the Ontario Building Code Act with regards to issuance of building permits. Upon conclusion
of the presentation, any person may make public comments on the proposed bylaw changes.

A REPORT outlining the changes and rationale for the building permit fee changes can be viewed on online at https://alnwickhaldimand.civicweb.net on November 5, 2024. The report will include information related to building permit
fees including:
• An estimate of the costs of administering and enforcing the Act by the Town;

• The amount of the fee or of the change of the existing fee, and

• The rationale for imposing or changing the fee.

IF YOU WISH TO BE notified of the adoption of the proposed building permit fee changes and amendments to the Fees and Charges By-law as they relate to Building Department Fees and Charges, you must make a written request to the Chief Building Official at the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand at PO Box 70, 10836 County Rd 2, Grafton, ON K0K 2G0 or by email building@ahtwp.ca
