In Police Blotter

On October 18, 2024, at approximately 3:50 a.m., police were notified about a male attempting to gain access to locked vehicles which were parked in a commuter, north of Highway 401 in the Township of Hamilton. Officers patrolled the area however there were no persons matching the description provided by the caller.

At this time, there are no further reports however it is a reminder to not only lock your vehicle, but to ensure that valuables are removed and not in plain sight causing a forced entry and theft.

On October 18, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m., OPP responded a theft from a vehicle at a service station area off Highway 401 eastbound in the Municipality of Port Hope. A locked passenger vehicle had been broken into where two laptops a nd a digital camera had been taken to the value of approximately $5,000.

This investigation is on-going, and updates will be provided when available.

It should be noted that this incident of theft occurred within a short time after the occupants left the vehicle and opportunist thieves are more likely to target vehicles where valuables can be seen.
