Port Hope Police – October Incidents – Fail to Comply and Theft

Failure to Comply
A 47-year-old Port Hope male was arrested and charged with failure or refuse to comply with a demand, after he was stopped by police for speeding through a school zone.

On October 16th, 2024, an officer on speed enforcement near Beatrice Strong School, captured a truck driving 20km/h over the posted speed limit. The officer initiated a traffic stop and noticed the driver was showing signs of impairment. The male refused multiple times to provide a breath sample. He was ultimately charged with Failure or refuse to comply with a demand. The driver was served a notice of a 7-day vehicle impoundment and a 90-day license suspension.

Theft
A 20-year-old Port Hope Male was arrested and charged with several charges after he was seen attempting to steal parts off a vehicle.

On October 4, 2024, a complainant phoned police to report a male attempting to steal parts from a parked vehicle. The male was later located by police on Cavan Street where he was arrested. A search of the male revealed him to be in possession of stolen property and Fentanyl. He was charged with disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, attempt theft, possession of a schedule 1 substance, possession of property obtained by crime, and fail to attend court.

This same male on October 9, 2024, stole property from a residence on Alexander Street. He was located at his home address, where he was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen property obtained by crime, and Failing to Appear

He was released on an undertaking.
