Peterborough County OPP – Investigate Fail to Remain Collision Involving Pedestrian

The Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an individual in relation to a fail to remail collision involving a pedestrian in the County of Peterborough.

On October 17, 2024, at approximately 7:25 p.m., the Peterborough County OPP, Otonabee South Monaghan Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Highway 7, east of Henderson Lane. The vehicle involved was not at the scene when police arrived.

The pedestrian was transported to a Toronto area trauma centre by Air Orange with life-threatening injuries

At approximately 8:20 p.m., the Northumberland OPP received a separate report of a motor vehicle collision involving an animal on Highway 401 in the Municipality of Brighton. No animal was reported at the scene. Upon investigation, the vehicle was identified and may be connected to the fail to remain collision in Peterborough.

The Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene on Highway 7 to continue the investigation. The road was closed in both directions between Highway 28 and Henderson Line, and was reopened at approximately 2:40 a.m.
