In Police Blotter

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 93 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on September 25, 2024 to 5:00 am on September 26, 2024.

Mischief and fail to comply with Probation Order
On the 25th of September at 4:36am, Belleville Police responded to a disturbance at a Sidney Street apartment. Numerous parties had contacted 911 reporting a male and female were yelling at each other. Further information was reported that a female had smashed a car window. Police located the suspect still on the property and arrested her without incident. During their investigation, police learned that the female was currently bound by three probation orders – two in Ontario and one in Quebec. All three Probation Orders have a clause of keeping the peace and being of good behaviour. As a result, 22-year-old, Madison Loft of no fixed address was charged with mischief and three counts of failing to comply with a Probation Order. She was held for a bail hearing.

Stolen vehicle
On the 26th of September at approximately 5:00am, a homeowner in the city’s east end started their vehicle while it was parked in their driveway but then ran back inside the house to grab something. Moments later an unknown suspect stole the vehicle. Police were in the area and kept observations for the vehicle. Police located the vehicle traveling southbound on MacDonald Ave and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop. Police pursued the vehicle for a short distance before terminating the pursuit for public safety reasons. The vehicle was last seen travelling east on Highway # 2 towards Tyendinaga. The stolen vehicle is a white 2022 Toyota Highlander with Ontario licence plate CBSB 426. The vehicle owner had both sets of keys in their possession when the vehicle was stolen. Police are reminding the public that leaving vehicles running and unattended creates increased opportunities for vehicle thefts.
Anyone with information regarding the theft of the vehicle or its whereabouts is asked to contact the Belleville Police Service.
