Peterborough Police – Incidents Include – Needle Thrown at Man, Theft (No Names Released)

Assault Arrest

A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Saturday evening.

At approximately 7:50pm on September 21, 2024, officers were called to Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street after a man reported someone had thrown a needle at him.  Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the description given to police walking in the area.  When they attempted to stop him the man he fled on foot.  A short foot pursuit ensued, and the officer drew their conducted energy weapon (CEW) at which point the suspect complied to officer demands and was taken into custody without incident.

As a result, a 28-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court November 5, 2024.

 

Theft Arrest

A 33-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Sunday morning.

At approximately 8:00am on September 22, 2024, officers were called to a store in the area of The Parkway and Lansdowne Street after a man was seen leaving the store and being chased by employees.  The man dropped the items and fled the area on foot. The man was spotted in the area of Monaghan Road and Romaine Street a short time later.  Officers attended the area, and he was taken into custody without incident.  During a search after arrests, officers located other items from the store in a backpack.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 – in Canada

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court November 5, 2024.
