Video – Port Hope Officials Will Assess Home After Partial Foundation Collapses

Officials from the Municipality of Port Hope will assess a house after part of the foundation gave way Monday, September 16, 2024.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services responded to a 9-1-1 call at a Bramley Street South residence.

The owner was watching television when he felt the house shift.

Fire Chief and Director, Protective Services Jason Williams said remediation was taking place at the rear of the property close to the dwelling.

“There was some soil instability issues that effected the foundation,” said Williams.

Hydro and natural gas were isolated and the couple will be staying at another residence.

On Tuesday, Port Hope’s Chief Building Official along with engineers from the construction company to assess the damage.

There were no injuries to anyone inside the home.
