Notice of Public Information Centre: King Street West Reconstruction Burnham Street to William Street

The Town of Cobourg and Lakefront Utility Services Inc. have engaged CIMA Canada Inc. to complete the design of the reconstruction of King Street West from Burnham Street to William Street.

The focus of this project is to replace the watermain, sanitary sewer and storm sewer as well as replacing the concrete sidewalk, road curbs and asphalt pavement. Water and sanitary sewer services will be replaced to the property line and connected to existing service pipes. There is no cost to the homeowner for this work. The project will include minor repairs to the King Street West / Cobourg Creek bridge and the construction of a new re-aligned entrance to Wastewater Pollution Control Plant #1.

The project will also include the construction of a 2.5m wide concrete multi-use path on the south side of King Street West, replacing the existing 1.2m wide concrete sidewalk. This will provide an off-road travel area for both cyclists and pedestrians separated from vehicular traffic.

The purpose of this notice is to inform residents that there is an upcoming Public Information Centre (PIC) for this project. The PIC provides the opportunity to share information about the project, hear your concerns, and receive your feedback.

The design for the project is currently underway and construction is planned to start in spring of 2025, pending budget approvals.

The Public Information Meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Cameco rooms at the Cobourg Community Centre (CCC) located at 750 D’Arcy Street.

Preliminary drawings will be available for viewing and staff from the Town of Cobourg, Lakefront Utilities and CIMA Canada Inc. will be on hand to answer questions.

Please note the meeting presentation material will be uploaded on September 18, 2024 to the Plans, Reports and Studies page of the Town of Cobourg website.
