Quinte West OPP – Trenton Man Charged with Attempted Murder (Name Released)

Arrest Made, Charges Laid

Officers with the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest in connection with a serious assault in the City of Quinte West.

Officers were called to an apartment on King Street shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

A 34-year-old male was located with stab wounds and was transported by Hastings Quinte Paramedics to a regional trauma centre. The suspect in the incident had fled the scene. An extensive search of the area, by Quinte West officers, the OPP Emergency Response Unit and the OPP Canine Unit, did not locate the individual.

On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, Quinte West OPP officers, and members of the Quinte West OPP Crime Unit, located and arrested the accused.

Justin LYONS, aged 38 of Trenton, is charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose

The accused remains in custody, with a bail hearing scheduled before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
