Update – Video – Ambulance Involved in Three Vehicle Collision in Cobourg

Two people were taken to hospital following a three-vehicle collision that involved an ambulance in Cobourg on Thursday, August 15, 2024.

Shortly after 2 p.m. emergency services responded to the scene of a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Elgin Street and William Street in Cobourg.

It appears a ambulance was heading north a vehicle was heading west through the intersection when both vehicles collided.

The ambulance ricocheted off the vehicle and struck a southbound car that was stopped at the intersection.

A patient in the ambulance along with the driver of another vehicle were taken to hospital.

The intersection was closed for approximately one hour.

There is no word yet on charges.

Update from Northumberland County

A Northumberland Paramedics ambulance was involved in a collision at the intersection of Elgin Street and Burnham Street in Cobourg on August 15, 2024.

The ambulance was transporting a patient to the hospital for care at that time.

As required, the ambulance first came to a complete stop at the intersection, and then proceeded through the intersection at a reduced speed with lights and sirens, whereupon a collision occurred with a vehicle entering the intersection.

Neither the patient nor the paramedics sustained any injuries as a result of this collision.
