Breaking News – Several Golf Courses Targeted in Overnight Break-Ins

Breaking News – A number of break-ins occurred overnight at various golf courses in Northumberland County and surrounding areas.

At least two golf courses in Northumberland County and one in Port Hope were the target of thieves overnight.

Today’s Northumberland has learned that other golf courses outside of Northumberland County were also the target of break-ins.

At this point, it appears only money was taken. But there was also damage to the businesses from the break-ins.

On August 7, 2024 at approximately 6:25 a.m., Northumberland OPP responded to a break and enter at a golf course on Shelter Valley Road in the Township of Alnwick-Haldimand. A locked building on the property had been broken into. Cash and other items were stolen. Occurred between 9 pm on August 6 and 6 am on August 7. OPP Scenes of Crime officer attended and investigation is on-going.

The second occurrence which was reported at approximately 6:50 a.m. Break and enter at golf course on Timber Ridge Drive in Brighton. Primarily cash stolen. Again occurred overnight and investigation is on-going.

Port Hope Police are also investigating after a break-in occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on August 7 at a golf course.

Suspect/s broke into a safe and removed cash.

Today’s Northumberland will provide a more detailed update as police services are hoping to release images if they are available.
