Alnwick/Haldimand Township – Zero Tolerance Policy for the Harassment, Bullying, and Intimidation of Staff

In City Hall, Local

As a result of several recent incidents involving defamatory and threatening behaviour towards staff, officials at the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand are reminding residents that the Township has a Zero Tolerance Policy against the harassment, bullying, and intimidation of staff and officials. This is in keeping with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OSHA) and the Employment Standards Act.

“I am proud of our staff. The integrity and professionalism they exhibit while performing their duties, organizing events for our families, keeping our community clean and safe, and ensuring that we are operating in an efficient, transparent, and legislatively compliant manner makes me proud to call
Alnwick/Haldimand home. The uttering of threats or abusive and defamatory comments towards staff will not be tolerated by this organization.” – Mayor John Logel

“Our Township staff are committed to superior customer service and the delivery of programs that meet the needs of our residents. Everyone, however, has a right to a safe work environment, free of harassment, intimidation, and bullying.

Threats, harassing, and intimidating behaviour made against Township staff will not be tolerated. I support my staff and stand behind their professionalism and integrity. We will not hesitate to pursue legal or criminal charges against anyone who thinks this type of behaviour is acceptable.” – Dave Dawson, CAO/Fire Chief.
