Cobourg Police – Requesting Public’s Assistance Involving Numerous Break and Enter

The Cobourg Police Service requests the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in an ongoing investigation into break-and-enter incidents at local businesses in the Town of Cobourg.

On Monday, July 22, 2024, at approximately 7:18 a.m., police responded to a call for a break and enter
business on Elgin Street East in the Town of Cobourg. It was reported that an individual entered the building by prying the door open and stole cash before leaving the area.

On Friday, July 26, 2024, police received reports of three similar break and enter incidents:

• At approximately 6:10 a.m., at a business on Elgin Street West.

• At approximately 6:37 a.m., at a business on Strathy Road.

• At approximately 7:13 am, at a business on Elgin Street East.

The theft of cash and damage to property amounts to approximately $5,500.

Police believe that the same person was involved in the four incidents.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to identify a person of interest. Anyone with information, dashcam, or CCTV footage of the area is asked to call police at 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting stopcrimehere.ca. Tips received through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
