Peterborough County OPP – ALPR Notification Leads to Impaired Charge (Name Released)

Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after a traffic stop.

On Sunday July 7, 2024, just prior to 4:30pm, an officer from the Peterborough County OPP detachment conducted a traffic stop on County Road 45 after being alerted by the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) in their cruiser. The officer approached the driver and made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Jeffrey PAWLOWSKY (age 61) of Tweed, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 13, 2024.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
