Video – Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services Ensuring Adequate Water Supply in Case of Emergency

In Local

With the construction along Walton Street, Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services have been taking proactive training to ensure adequate water supply is available in case of an emergency.

On Tuesday, July 2, 2024 the service was along Walton Street overlooking the Ganaraska River and had set up a number of fire apparatus pumping water from the river.

Director of Protective Services, Jason Williams said the training involved ensuring adequate water supply for fire suppression activities in the downtown area.

“Members of the fire service undertook a training exercise in which water from the Ganaraska River was utilized as an alternate means of water for the purposes of fire suppression. During the Walton Street construction project there may be intermittent water disruptions, and on the abundance of caution, Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services have taken the proactive steps to ensure adequate water supply is available if required in an emergency situation.”
